The announcement coincides with the country\u2019s annual \u201cChoose France\u201d event, which starts today, where Amazon and other companies, such as GSK and Accenture, are set to unveil significant investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investment by Amazon Web Services (AWS) is aimed at strengthening its cloud infrastructure in the Paris region, which will support France\u2019s growing AI sector. Additionally, Amazon plans to strengthen its logistics infrastructure in the Auvergne-Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes region. The growing demand for cloud services, fueled by the growing popularity of generative AI, has positioned France as a major player in the AI industry, attracting companies such as Meta and Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) to establish AI research centers in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amazon has invested more than \u20ac20 billion in its French operations since 2010 and now has more than 22,000 permanent employees in the country, spread across its online retail and cloud businesses. Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Duval, country manager for Amazon France, noted that the new jobs are in addition to the 2,000 previously announced for 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Part of the investment will also go toward expanding Amazon\u2019s logistics network, which includes more than 35 facilities in France.
