The announcement of the investment is expected to coincide with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s upcoming visit to the United States. As part of this expansion initiative, Microsoft plans to equip two of its existing facilities in eastern and western Japan with advanced AI semiconductors. These upgrades are poised to bolster the company’s technology infrastructure in the region.
Furthermore, Microsoft is preparing to launch an ambitious AI-related retraining program in Japan. The program aims to train 3 million workers over a three-year period, reflecting the company’s commitment to not only advancing technology but also investing in human resources.
