The US stock market continued its sharp decline in the trading session on Wednesday amid disappointing second-quarter financial reports from major technology companies. The S&P 500 index fell 2,311 points to 5,427.13 points. The Nasdaq index fell 3,641 points to 17,342.41 points. The Dow Jones index fell 1,251 points to 39,853.87 points.

At the end of Wednesday's trading session, oil prices ended three sessions of decline with a slight increase. Brent crude oil prices increased 70 cents, equivalent to 0.9%, to 81.71 USD/barrel. WTI crude oil prices increased 63 cents, equivalent to 0.8%, to 77.59 USD/barrel.
