Q1/2024, STOCK MARKET CAPITALIZATION INCREASED BY MORE THAN 12%

In the first quarter of 2024, the stock market capitalization increased by more than 12%. The loosening of monetary policy by the State Bank of Vietnam is the driving force leading domestic investors to return to the market. In the first quarter of 2024, the stock market capitalization increased by 12.2%.

According to the latest statistics of the General Statistics Office, as of March 28, 2024, VN-Index reached 1,286.11 points, up 2.71% compared to the end of the previous month and up 13.81% compared to the end of 2023; market capitalization (as of March 15, 2024) is estimated at nearly 6.7 million billion VND, up 12.21% compared to the end of 2023.

In March, the average trading value reached VND 28,992 billion/session, an increase of VND 24.51 billion/session compared to the average of the previous month. In the first quarter of 2024, the average trading value reached VND 22,529 billion/session, an increase of VND 28.21 billion/session compared to the average of 2023.

The stock market by the end of February 2024 had 736 listed stocks and fund certificates; 870 stocks registered for trading on the UPCoM floor with a total listed and registered trading value of more than VND 2.1 million billion, an increase of 0.5% compared to the end of 2023. In the bond market, the average trading value in March reached VND 11,279 billion/session, an increase of 20.5% compared to the previous month; the average in the first quarter of 2024 reached VND 9,698 billion/session, an increase of 48.8% compared to the average in 2023.

At the end of February 2024, the bond market had 457 listed codes with a listing value of more than VND 2,040 trillion, an increase of 17.1% compared to the end of 2023.

In the derivatives market, the average trading volume of futures contracts on the VN30 index in March reached 235,398 contracts/session, an increase of 421 TP3T compared to the previous month; the average trading volume of covered warrants reached 65.2 million warrants/session, a decrease of 2.31 TP3T.

Since the beginning of the year, the average trading volume of futures contracts on the VN30 index has reached 191,436 contracts/session, down 19% compared to the average in 2023; covered warrants have reached 63.2 million warrants/session, up 93.1%.
