Recently, Writterbuddy.ai announced the results of a survey on the most used AI tools in 2023. According to the research results, the company started counting the visits of these AI tools from September 2022 to August 2023 using SEMrush.
10 Most Used AI Tools in 2023
In the list of the top 10 most used AI tools of the past year, OpenAI's ChatGPT took the top spot with 14.6 billion visits. The chatbot was most used in the United States, India, and Brazil. The survey also revealed that 58% people used ChatGPT via mobile devices.

Coming in at number 2 is character.ai with 3.8 billion visits and 95% mobile users. Next up is QuillBot – an AI paraphrasing tool with 1.1 billion visits. Number 4 is Midjourney with 500.4 million visits, followed by Hugging Face with 316.6 million.
Google Bard ranked 6th with 241.6 million visits, followed by NovelAI with 238.7 million visits and ranked 7th. The tools ranked 8th through 10th respectively were CapCut (203.8 million visits), JanitorAI (192.4 million) and Civitai (177.2 million).
20 countries with the most AI users
Moving on to the list of countries with the most AI users, the US is in first place with 5.5 billion visits. Second place belongs to India, which recorded 2.1 billion visits in the past 12 months. This is followed by Indonesia, the Philippines, and Brazil. All three countries have similar visits of 1.3 billion and 1.4 billion.
Notably, Vietnam also made the list, ranking 15th with 351 million visits. Meanwhile, China did not make it into the list of 20 countries using AI the most last year, despite its population of 1.4 billion people.
